Training of new staff members

The training of new staff members as a personnel development tool is intended to introduce the person concerned to the new sphere of activity and to ensure the social integration into the working environment.

The aim is to provide comprehensive information and assistance to new staff members to ensure that they are able to fulfil the tasks assigned to them independently.

The direct supervisor assumes a special responsibility in this respect, because in addition to the introductory discussion, he/she has regular feedback discussions with new staff members to understand to what degree they have familiarized themselves with their work. This orientation process is usually supported by a special tutor, sponsor or mentor.

The successful orientation and training of new staff members is decisive for their motivation, satisfaction and future performance.

We can help by

  • advising on developing and implementing guidelines, selecting an appropriate “tutor model” and drawing up checklists for superiors and tutors;
  • drawing up an advanced training plan for new staff members;
  • sketching out a questionnaire on the evaluation of the new staff member’s training.
